Simply Bee Natural Beeswax Products was founded on the 23rd of March 2011. Natural ingredients nurture the skin with wholesome nutrients that the bodies chemistry is familiar with, thus working in harmony with the body.
The Simply Bee products range consists of all natural products such as beeswax, honey, propolis and essential oils.
Simply Bee started off with only five products in our range, and due to public demand, it is with great pride that our beeswax product range has now grown to over thirty products in a relatively short period of time. They stimulate your senses, are beneficial to your overall well-being and are so much better for the environment. Natural ingredients are profoundly effective. Simply put, our goal is to keep natural ingredients, natural. At Simply Bee, we maintain the highest standards of natural beeswax products. These products include body lotions, hair products, facial skin products, soaps, ointments, foot balms, hand creams, candles and leather and wood polish.

Simply Bee is situated in the sleepy town of Hopefield, 140 km’s North of Cape Town and in the heart of the famous West Coast fynbos area. As creators and owners of Simply Bee our mission is to not only cultivate awareness of the benefits of using natural beeswax products but to also aid in bee conservation. Our beehives, it began with our father, who provided us with the foundation to not only create these products but to also continue a family legacy. Simply Bee’s products offer all natural handmade products, free from harmful chemicals, synthetic fragrances and parabens. This led to the beginning of Simply Bee, a range of natural, organic products for both the body and the home. We are very fortunate to have our beehives in Fynbos rich areas around Hopefield where there is no commercial farming within the immediate vicinity. Our bees are not used for commercial pollination either, eliminating the negative effects of exposure to chemicals. Our hives are all placed on stands, which also makes them badger-friendly. We strive to support our local suppliers, so our carrier and essential oil ingredients are bought from reputable local companies. We started off with only five products in our line; due to public demand the line has now grown to over 50 products in a relatively short period. These include body lotions, hand cream, foot balm, ointments, shampoo, soaps, facial skin products and polishes. The secret of a good product for the skin lies in the combination of good, natural ingredients with natural processes designed to maximise purity without damaging the ingredients. They stimulate your senses, are better for the environment and beneficial to your overall well-being. Equally important is how those ingredients are processed. I, myself, control the manufacture of our products. Any processing, including distillation, condensation, extraction, steaming, and hydrolysis are kept to a minimum. This ensures full retention of their beneficial properties. Simply Bee has more than 180 stockists in South Africa and also exports to Zimbabwe, Namibia, England, USA and Mauritius. We strongly believe in sustainable and responsible bee-keeping. As creators and owners of Simply Bee, Helena and Pierre van der Westhuizen remains committed to Responsible beekeeping practices and the cultivation of awareness about the importance of bees as an integral part of our daily lives. At the Observation Centre, Simply Bee offers an informative, educational and interactive way of learning everything about the incredible life-cycle of honey bees, how bees make their honey and how Simply Bee produces such a high standard of organic honey and propolis, whilst maintaining proud traditional and responsible farming practices. The Centre also offers a wonderful glimpse at the origins of the family history and the beginnings of Simply Bee. We also proudly boast the West Coast’s first glass bee-observation hives with 2 live bee colonies. The hives have glass panels which offer a safe opportunity to view a bee colony in their natural environment, and to learn in an unobtrusive yet safe way about the incredible work ethic and processes of how bees feed their young, make their honey and communicate with each other. We offer special age appropriate educational packages for school groups, study groups or tourist groups. Being a near threatened species, Simply Bee supports the fact that more should be done now to ensure the long-term survival of the African honey badgers before they reach a critical status on the IUCN Red List.
